Bowdoin Man Sentenced to 2 Years for Failing to Register as Sex Offender

Portland, Maine – David Forrest Noel, 40, of Bowdoin, Maine, was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release for failing to register as a sex offender in Maine, announced United States Attorney Halsey B. Frank.

Noel pleaded guilty on June 22, 2017. He was required by law to register as a sex offender because he was convicted in Massachusetts in 2010 of indecent assault and battery on a child.

According to court records, Noel registered as a sex offender in Massachusetts after his conviction, but failed to notify authorities of his move to Maine in 2016 and failed to register as a sex offender in Maine.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Noel’s conviction is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service. U.S. Attorney Halsey B. Frank praised the U.S. Marshals Service for their work on the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the U.S. Attorney’s Office to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

U.S. Attorney Frank commended the U.S. Marshals Service for their efforts in this case and thanked them for their dedication to protecting the citizens of Maine.
