A West Georgia man, David Gibson, 59, of Talbotton, Georgia, has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing numerous firearms in federal court.
Court documents and evidence presented in court revealed that Gibson, who is under investigation for allegedly drugging women, faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for June 14.
According to the search of Gibson’s residence in Talbot County on November 17, 2022, agents seized 26 firearms, consisting of pistols, shotguns, and rifles. The weapons included a .45 colt/.410 caliber revolver called ‘The Judge,’ a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, and a semi-automatic rifle.
Gibson admits he is an unlawful user of illegal drugs, making him a prohibited person. This case is being prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program.
The PSN program is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime. Through PSN, a broad spectrum of stakeholders work together to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in the community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
The case was investigated by the FBI, DEA, Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and Talbot County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Williams is prosecuting the case for the Government.
