A New Haven man has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for violating the terms and conditions of his supervised release.
David LILLY, 34, was originally sentenced to 87 months in October 2005 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released from federal prison and placed on supervision in November 2011.
In June 2012, LILLY was arrested in separate cases by the New Haven and Hartford Police Departments. In November 2012, Judge Janet B. Arterton sentenced LILLY to ten months of imprisonment for violating the terms of his supervision.
LILLY was again released from federal custody to supervision in April 2013 and, according to documents filed in the case, in August 2013, he engaged in a gun battle with another individual in Hamden.
In April 2014, LILLY pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 years, suspended after 66 months, for attempted assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a firearm, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
The commission of that offense led to Judge Arterton’s sentence today, which will run consecutively to LILLY’s 66 months sentence in State Superior Court.
According to the Department of Justice, LILLY will be placed on supervised release for an additional one year following his release from federal prison. If found guilty of another violation while on supervision, LILLY can be sentenced to up to an additional two years in jail.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony E. Kaplan. The U.S. Attorney’s Office can be reached at (203) 821-3722 or thomas.carson@usdoj.gov.
