A Council Bluffs man who sparked a high-speed chase on a motorcycle was sentenced to 134 months in prison for a methamphetamine offense.

David Walling, Jr., 37, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

On July 13, 2019, law enforcement attempted to stop Walling, who was operating a motorcycle, in a parking garage in Council Bluffs. Walling failed to stop for police and took off at a high rate of speed.

Walling was stopped before he could exit the parking garage. At the time of Walling’s arrest, he was found in possession of 43.34 grams of actual methamphetamine.

The case was investigated by the Council Bluffs Police Department and the Southwest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that Walling’s actions on that day put the public at risk. Walling’s sentence will be followed by a five-year term of supervised release.

Walling’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat its distribution and use in our communities.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa commends the investigators and prosecutors who worked on this case.
