Davon Terrell Biddle, Firearm Possession, Iowa 2021

A 22-year-old Waterloo man, Davon Terrell Biddle, was sentenced to more than two years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm and leading police on a high-speed chase.

According to court documents, Biddle, a resident of Waterloo, Iowa, pleaded guilty to being a drug user in possession of a firearm on November 15, 2021. As part of the plea agreement, Biddle admitted to driving a vehicle through Waterloo on March 29, 2021, and refusing to stop for police.

Biddle fled from officers, reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. He eventually slowed the vehicle to allow him and his passengers to flee on foot. Biddle continued to run from police and threw a Walther PPS 9x19mm caliber pistol as he ran. Police located the firearm and DNA testing established that Biddle’s DNA was on the magazine area of the firearm.

Biddle was an unlawful user of marijuana at the time he possessed the firearm. On March 29, 2021, he was driving a vehicle through Waterloo, Iowa, when police attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, Biddle refused to stop and led police on a high-speed chase.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), the centerpiece of the Department of Justice’s violent crime reduction efforts. PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime.

Biddle was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams to 27 months’ imprisonment. He must also serve a three-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.

Biddle is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lisa C. Williams and was investigated by a Federal Task Force composed of the Waterloo Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms assisted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office and Cedar Falls Police Department.
