Jose De Leon Ventura, a 30-year-old Guatemalan national, has been sentenced to five months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, De Leon Ventura pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien in May 2025. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani and will be followed by one year of supervised release.
De Leon Ventura was previously removed from the United States in December 2019, after being arrested by U.S. Border Patrol in Yuma, Ariz. However, he unlawfully reentered the country sometime after his removal. His presence was discovered by federal authorities following his arrest in August 2023 for operating under the influence of liquor and operating after a suspended license.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Lyons, and the announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
De Leon Ventura has remained in custody since his arrest in April 2025. He is subject to deportation upon completion of the imposed sentence. The sentencing of De Leon Ventura serves as a reminder of the consequences of illegally reentering the United States after deportation.
