Thornton, CO – Dean Fabiano, 36, is facing federal charges after a raid on his home and storage unit revealed a disturbing cache of weapons, drugs, and extremist materials. Federal agents executed search warrants on September 6, 2023, uncovering a hoard that goes far beyond a simple gun collection.
Fabiano, already a convicted felon, is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. Authorities allege that his criminal history bars him from legally owning any firearms or ammunition. The initial search of his Thornton residence turned up a shocking 18 firearms, along with numerous firearm parts. But the discovery didn’t stop there.
A letter found during the home search led investigators to a storage unit rented by Fabiano. A subsequent search of that unit yielded even more firearms and associated parts, raising serious questions about Fabiano’s intentions. Adding to the unsettling nature of the case, investigators also found suspected drugs and what they describe as “potential destructive devices” at Fabiano’s home.
Perhaps most disturbing was the discovery of Nazi memorabilia and drawings within Fabiano’s possession. While the connection to the firearm charges remains unclear, the presence of such items is being thoroughly investigated as part of the broader case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado is taking a hard look at all aspects of Fabiano’s activities.
Fabiano made his initial court appearance in Denver on September 8, 2023, before United States Magistrate Judge Neureiter. He was informed of the charges against him but remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The investigation is being jointly conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the ATF, with Assistant United States Attorney Kelly Churnet leading the prosecution.
The case is listed under number 23-mj-00156. While the charges currently focus on illegal firearm possession, the scope of the investigation, given the additional evidence seized, suggests further charges could be forthcoming. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as it unfolds, bringing you the unvarnished truth from the federal courthouse.
