Deaundray Chrisshawn Williams, a 35-year-old Okmulgee resident, has pleaded guilty to one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm, a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000.00 fine.
The guilty plea was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and stems from an incident on December 15, 2024, in which Williams was found to be in possession of a revolver despite having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
The investigation that led to Williams’ guilty plea was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Okmulgee Police Department. These agencies worked together to build a case against Williams, which ultimately resulted in his indictment and subsequent guilty plea.
Williams’ plea was accepted by the Honorable Jason A. Robertson, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. As part of the plea agreement, Williams will be required to complete a presentence investigation report, which will be used to determine his sentence.
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed on Williams after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Williams has been remanded into the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lewis M. Reagan represented the United States in this case.
The guilty plea of Deaundray Chrisshawn Williams serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of illegally possessing a firearm. The law is clear: individuals who have been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment are prohibited from possessing firearms. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma will continue to work with law enforcement agencies to prosecute individuals who violate this law.
In addition to the potential prison sentence and fine, Williams’ guilty plea will also have long-term consequences for his ability to possess firearms in the future. As a convicted felon, Williams will be subject to strict laws and regulations regarding firearm possession, and any future violations could result in severe penalties.
