Deaunta Miller, Fentanyl Trafficking, Missouri 2020

ST. LOUIS – Deaunta Miller, a St. Louis man, has pleaded guilty to knowingly and intentionally possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute. United States District Court Judge Stephen R. Clark accepted Miller’s plea on today’s date, and set sentencing for January 12, 2022.

According to the plea agreement, Miller knowingly and intentionally possessed with the intent to distribute fentanyl, a controlled substance, on or about December 2, 2020, within the Eastern District of Missouri. Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration began an investigation into Deaunta Miller’s narcotics trafficking in June of 2020.

During their investigation, agents conducted controlled purchases of narcotics from Miller and later obtained federal search warrants, which authorized them to search two residences in the St. Louis area. Investigators executed the warrants on December 2, 2020.

During the execution of the search warrants, a large amount of fentanyl was seized along with coke and heroin. Further investigation revealed over $60,000.00 in cash that was seized as illegal drug proceeds and a hydraulic press used in conjunction with the distribution of illegal narcotics.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Miller is subject to imprisonment of not more than 20 years, a fine of not more than $1,000,000, or both such imprisonment and fine.

Miller’s guilty plea brings an end to his narcotics trafficking operation in the St. Louis area. The investigation and subsequent execution of the search warrants have removed a significant amount of illicit narcotics from the community.

With his sentencing set for January 12, 2022, Miller now faces the possibility of up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. This case serves as a reminder of the ongoing effort to combat narcotics trafficking in the St. Louis area.
