Debra J. Feather, Income Tax Evasion, Pennsylvania 2023

A Latrobe woman has been handed a two-year prison sentence for evading income tax, according to federal authorities. Debra J. Feather, a 24-month sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab in federal court, announced United States Attorney David J. Hickton.

Feather’s conviction stems from her failure to declare substantial income on her joint federal tax returns between 2007 and 2010, resulting in substantial additional tax owing to the US. The defendant’s actions, which spanned 12 years, involved embezzling income from her employment at a law firm, where she worked for over 40 years.

Judge Schwab noted that, like many tax evaders, Feather had no prior criminal history. However, he emphasized that her actions were a serious crime, and her lack of experience in such matters did not excuse her behavior.
