Hartford Crack Dealer Sentenced to 30 Months in Prison
A 32-year-old Hartford man has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for his role in a crack cocaine distribution ring in the city’s North End.
Demeeco Sampson, also known as ‘Meeco,’ was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson in Hartford on [no date provided] to 30 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for distributing crack cocaine.
Sampson was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service as part of his sentence.
The sentence stems from a joint investigation by the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Violent Crimes Task Force and the Hartford Police Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit into gang-related narcotics trafficking in the North End.
According to court documents, Sampson and others targeted during the investigation were affiliated with groups and gangs who have been involved in acts of violence.
The investigation revealed that Sampson and others sold crack cocaine in the area of Edgewood Street and Albany Avenue. In June and July 2015, law enforcement made controlled purchases of crack from Sampson and his associates.
Sampson has been detained since his arrest on December 2, 2015. On January 25, 2017, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribution of, cocaine base (‘crack cocaine’)
Sampson’s criminal history includes multiple state felony convictions.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Hartford Police Department, East Hartford Police Department, Connecticut State Police and Connecticut Department of Correction. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian P. Leaming.
