ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI – A felon caught with a stolen gun and vehicle has been sentenced to 102 months in prison, according to court documents.

Deonte Alfred, 26, of Berkeley, Missouri, was caught by St. Louis County Police in a stolen car with a stolen .40-caliber Glock handgun on January 6, 2021. The crime occurred while police were conducting surveillance in an area known to be a hotbed of stolen vehicle activity.

According to court records, Alfred fled from police in a stolen vehicle, jumped out of the driver’s seat while the vehicle was still in motion, and discarded a loaded, stolen handgun as he fled on foot. He was eventually arrested after he scaled several fences and lost his footing on the bank of a creek.

Alfred pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in August of last year. As part of his plea agreement, he admitted to selling stolen vehicles and knowing that the vehicle he was driving was stolen.

The St. Louis County Police investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Dunkel prosecuted the case.

U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Clark handed down the sentence of 102 months in prison. This sentence is a harsh reminder of the consequences of committing crimes with firearms, especially for those who have already served time for similar offenses. The community is safer with Alfred behind bars.
