JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Malik Rashod Miller, 25, from Jefferson City, Mo., has been handed a 15-year federal prison sentence for illegal firearm possession. The sentence, imposed by U.S District Judge Roseann Ketchmark, comes as part of Miller’s plea agreement for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Miller was caught with a loaded Charter Arms .38-special revolver and methamphetamine during a late-night park stop on Oct. 20, 2021. The incident also yielded approximately 10.2 grams of meth and small rocks of crack cocaine.
Miller’s criminal history is marked by violence, including threats, stalking, and assaultive conduct, with nearly all convictions involving firearms. His two prior felony convictions for unlawful use of a weapon and delivery of a controlled substance were the basis for his classification as an armed career criminal.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren E. Kummerer, investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Jefferson City Police Department. It is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a federal program dedicated to reducing violent crime and enhancing community safety.
Miller’s plea and sentence mark another victory for PSN and its commitment to fostering trust in communities, supporting preventive organizations, and focusing enforcement on high-impact cases like Miller’s.
