A convicted felon will answer for his actions after pleading guilty to firearm charges. Kenneth Jordan, 63, of University City, Missouri, admitted to illegally possessing firearms twice, including when he used one in a bar fight in Overland, Missouri.
According to the Department of Justice, on February 22, 2023, Jordan got into a physical altercation over a pool game at a bar in Overland. Witnesses claim that Jordan struck a bar patron in the head with a revolver before threatening him with the gun.
Police were able to identify Jordan as the attacker and obtained a search warrant for his home. On March 7, 2023, officers found the revolver used in the assault, as well as three shotguns. Jordan’s possession of these firearms is a clear violation of his status as a convicted felon.
The Overland Police Department and the St. Louis County Department of Police investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nino Przulj is prosecuting the case. The investigation and prosecution of Jordan’s crimes are part of the Department’s commitment to reducing violent crime and gun violence through the Project Safe Neighborhoods program.
Project Safe Neighborhoods is a program that brings together law enforcement and community organizations to address violent crime and gun violence. The program has a core principle of fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations, and measuring the results of enforcement efforts.
Jordan is scheduled to be sentenced on August 14. His guilty plea serves as a reminder that law enforcement is committed to holding accountable those who commit violent crimes, particularly those who attempt to circumvent the law by possessing firearms as convicted felons.
The Department of Justice and its partners will continue to work together to make our communities safer for everyone. In this case, justice will be served, and the public will be protected from those who would seek to harm others.
