A Clarksville, Tennessee man has pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery and use of a handgun in a crime of violence.

According to the plea agreement, Deonte Graham, 34, of Clarksville, Tennessee, admitted to orchestrating a robbery at Singletary Construction in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Oct. 21, 2011, where $17,000 in cash was stolen by two masked men with a gun.

Graham, who had worked for Singletary for over a year, devised the plan to rob the company after his employer accused him of misrepresenting his hours worked and docked his pay.

As part of his guilty plea, Graham admitted to bragging to a former Singletary employee in December 2012 about arranging the robbery because Singletary owed him money.

The case was investigated by the Clarksville, Tennessee, Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorney Laura Gwinn of the Criminal Division’s Organized Crime and Gang Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Lynne T. Ingram of the Middle District of Tennessee.

Graham is facing a significant prison term for his role in the Hobbs Act robbery.
