Bullhead Man Charged with Domestic Assault in Violent Crime Case
A 30-year-old man from Bullhead, South Dakota, has been charged with domestic assault, according to federal authorities.
Derek Archambault, a/k/a John Martinez, was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 17, 2013, on four counts of Domestic Assault By An Habitual Offender.
Archambault, who is presumed innocent until proven guilty, faces a maximum penalty of 5 years’ custody, a $250,000 fine, or both, as well as a period of supervised release of 3 years and a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
The charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency.
Archambault was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service and awaits trial. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Shanley.
