A 32-year-old Akron man is facing serious charges for his alleged role in heroin trafficking in the city. Desean R. Harbin, 32, of Akron, has been indicted on four counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of heroin, according to Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
The indictment alleges that on four separate dates in 2013, Harbin possessed and distributed amounts of heroin in the city. The exact dates of the incidents are October 31, November 12, December 16, and December 19, 2013.
Harbin, if convicted, will face a sentence determined by the court after reviewing factors unique to the case, including his prior criminal records, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation. The sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases, will be less than the maximum.
The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Akron Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Linda H. Barr.
