Heroin Conspiracy Rocks Jeannette Community
A 43-year-old Jeannette resident, Anthony Wayne Canady, has been accused of being at the center of a heroin distribution conspiracy in Westmoreland County.
According to the superseding indictment, Canady conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a quantity of heroin. The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh, marks a significant development in the ongoing battle against opioid trafficking in the region.
Assistant United States Attorney Stephen S. Gilson is leading the prosecution of Canady, who faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a fine of $1,000,000, or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based on the seriousness of the offense and Canady’s prior criminal history, if any.
