HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — In a grim turn of events, Detroit’s Michael Dayshawn Harris, alias ‘Polo,’ has entered a guilty plea in federal court for his involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
On October 6, 2022, Harris sold nearly 29 grams of meth and a quantity of fentanyl to an informant, authorities revealed. The defendant’s own admission during court proceedings confirmed the illegal transaction.
Scheduled for sentencing on September 30, 2024, Harris faces a daunting prospect of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine.
His co-defendant, Desmond Devon Magee, also known as ‘Rich,’ was handed a four-year sentence followed by three years of supervised release on May 22, 2023, after pleading guilty to similar charges.
United States Attorney Will Thompson led the charge in announcing the plea deal, lauding the efforts of the FBI and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department for their relentless pursuit of justice.
The hearing was presided over by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers, with Assistant United States Attorneys Joseph F. Adams and Courtney L. Finney spearheading the prosecution.
