Defendant Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for CSAM Distribution

Alexandria, VA – Devin Sinclair Buries, a 49-year-old man from Falls Church, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to distribute his collection of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

According to court documents, Buries shared his CSAM collection with other users on BitTorrent. On November 15, 2023, law enforcement searched Buries’ residence and seized a desktop computer and Buries’ cellphone. Buries built the computer, which contained six hard drives. One was the operating hard drive and the other five contained CSAM. Buries had over 200 videos and over 19,000 images of CSAM.

After his arrest, Buries fled to Ukraine. He was returned to the United States and arrested on September 22, 2025, to face federal charges. Buries pled guilty on December 18, 2025.

The FBI Washington Field Office investigated this case with assistance from Fairfax County Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service. The Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs worked with the Government of Ukraine to secure Buries’ arrest and extradition from Ukraine.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura D. Withers prosecuted the case. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.justice.gov/psc.
