Devon Ashton, 28, Sentenced to 6 Years for Fentanyl Trafficking in Maine
PORTLAND, Maine – In a shocking turn of events, Devon Ashton, a 28-year-old Worcester, Massachusetts man, was sentenced to 72 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release for distributing and possessing with intent to distribute controlled substances.
Ashton’s troubles began when the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted four controlled purchases of fentanyl from him between January and March 2023. The total amount of fentanyl seized was approximately 192 grams. However, Ashton’s luck ran out when he was stopped for speeding in Lewiston, Maine, at the end of March 2023. During the stop, approximately $8,000 and 59 grams of cocaine were seized, leading to his arrest in May 2023.
Ashton’s past is checkered, with previous convictions for unlawful firearms possession and assault, among other offenses. While awaiting sentencing, he was involved in an altercation at the Strafford County (NH) Correctional Facility and has been indicted in New Hampshire state court for the crime of Assault by Prisoner.
The DEA investigated the case, and Ashton ultimately pleaded guilty on July 26, 2023. The U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen handed down the sentence, which will see Ashton serving 6 years in prison, followed by 4 years of supervised release.
