Florida Trio Arrested In Large-Scale Drug Conspiracy

Ocala, Florida – In a major blow to the state’s illicit drug trade, a group of three individuals have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in a large-scale drug conspiracy. Devonne L. Walker (35, Lady Lake, FL), Tymane D. Hamilton (29, Phoenix, AZ), and Kanisha D. Savage (28, Phoenix, AZ) have been charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, a crime punishable by a maximum penalty of life in federal prison.

According to the indictment, between March 2018 and October 10, 2019, Walker, Hamilton, and Savage conspired to distribute more than 50 kilograms of marijuana, 5 kilograms of cocaine, 1 kilogram of heroin, 500 grams of methamphetamine, and 40 grams of fentanyl. The investigation revealed that the trio had a sophisticated operation in place, shipping these illicit substances from Phoenix, Arizona to the Middle District of Florida using the United States Postal Service. The drugs were eventually distributed in Central Florida.

Law enforcement officers seized a substantial amount of evidence during the investigation, including over 54 kilograms of marijuana, 27 kilograms of methamphetamine, 125 grams of heroin, and 79 grams of fentanyl. This operation demonstrates the dedication of local and federal authorities to eradicating the opioid crisis and reducing the flow of illicit substances into our communities.

Walker was arrested on June 25, 2021, in Lake County, where agents recovered a stolen firearm and bags containing suspected cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. Hamilton and Savage were arrested on June 28, 2021, in Phoenix. All three defendants were ordered detained.

It’s essential to note that an indictment is merely a formal charge, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation was a collaborative effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Postal Service Inspection Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Michael P. Felicetta will be prosecuting the case.

The outcome of this case serves as a reminder that those involved in the illicit drug trade will face severe consequences. We must continue to work together to dismantle these operations and keep our communities safe.
