Anh Viet Quach, Possession of Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking, Mississippi 2016

Gulfport, Miss – In a stunning turn of events, Anh Viet Quach, 42, of D’Iberville, Mississippi, has pled guilty before U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola Jr. to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, according to U.S. Attorney Mike Hurst and Acting Special Agent in Charge Luis M. Quesada with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Quach’s descent into legal trouble began in May 2016 when agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, working in tandem with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, gathered intelligence about a dealer selling large quantities of high-grade marijuana in D’Iberville. Surveillance led to Quach’s home, where authorities found nearly 42 pounds of marijuana, $7,200 in cash, a currency counter, and a Berretta 9mm handgun.

Quach confessed to receiving 420 pounds of marijuana by mail from California, selling it for $2,800 per pound. His past is not free of legal troubles; he has previous felony gang-related convictions from California that have now landed him in deeper trouble.

The sentencing hearing is set for August 22, 2019, at 1:30 p.m., where Quach faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $250,000 fine. The case was investigated by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Annette Williams will be handling the prosecution.

This is not just another drug bust; it’s a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle against illegal drug activity that plagues our communities. Quach’s plea sends a strong message about the severe consequences for those who dare to arm themselves while dealing drugs.
