Urliek Evans, First-Degree Child Sexual Abuse, DC 2024

URLIKEK EVANS, a 41-year-old Washington, D.C. resident, has admitted to the heinous crime of first-degree child sexual abuse against a 15-year-old girl. Today’s guilty plea marks a chilling chapter in the city’s criminal annals.

In a court appearance before Honorable Reggie B. Walton, Evans faces a minimum of eight years behind bars if the judge accepts the agreed-upon sentence of 102 months. The hearing to confirm this term is scheduled for June 26, 2017.

The girl, who ran away from home in Baltimore in July 2015, met Evans after arriving in Washington, D.C. According to court documents, Evans initially believed the girl was 18, inviting her to his Southeast Washington apartment where he subjected her to abuse. He only learned of her true age on August 20, 2015, when her parents reached out seeking their daughter’s return.

Despite being confronted by the girl’s family, Evans continued to sexually abuse the girl for several weeks after this revelation. His arrest came on September 22, 2015, following an intensive investigation by MPD’s Youth Division and the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force.

In a statement released today, U.S. Attorney Channing D. Phillips, Assistant Director Andrew Vale of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, and Acting Chief Peter Newsham of the Metropolitan Police Department commended the relentless efforts of those involved in this case. They also lauded the legal team at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including Criminal Investigator John Marsh and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrea L. Hertzfeld and Lindsay J. Suttenberg.

Evans will also be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years upon his release from prison. This plea comes as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by predators who exploit the vulnerable, and the unwavering determination of law enforcement in protecting our children.
