Guatemalan National Pleads Guilty to Unlawful Reentry

Domingo Valentin Solis-De Leon, 29, pleaded guilty today in federal court in Boston to unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation.

According to court documents, Solis-De Leon was arrested by the United States Border Patrol near Hidalgo, Texas on January 8, 2014, after entering the country illegally. He was ordered removed and sent back to his home country of Guatemala.

However, Solis-De Leon was back in the United States by January 6, 2024, when immigration authorities learned of his presence. He was arrested by the Lynn Police Department on state charges for assault and battery on a family or household member and the matter is currently pending in Lynn District Court.

After being released from state custody, Solis-De Leon was arrested by immigration authorities on January 28, 2025, in Lynn, Massachusetts.

The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. The defendant will be subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Luke A. Goldworm of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.

Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton scheduled sentencing for June 10, 2025.
