Man Implicated in Cocaine Ring Sentenced to 88 Months in Federal Prison
A 28-year-old Corpus Christi resident, Don Neal Devon Cobb, has been ordered to serve 88 months in federal prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking operation.
According to court documents, Cobb pleaded guilty to the charges on August 2. U.S. District Judge David S. Morales handed down the sentence, which will be followed by three years of supervised release.
In a statement, Cobb admitted to struggling with a drug problem. The case highlights the ongoing struggle against narcotics trafficking in the region.
The investigation into Cobb’s activities began when law enforcement pulled him over for a traffic violation. He subsequently fled the scene, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit before crashing his vehicle.
At the scene of the crash, authorities discovered a substantial amount of methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed that Cobb was dealing narcotics and led to the execution of a search warrant on his residence on May 28, 2020.
The search yielded a large quantity of cocaine, heroin, illegal mushrooms, marijuana, THC wax, a loaded firearm, and items associated with drug trafficking. Cobb has been in custody since his arrest and will remain there until his transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.
The FBI led the investigation, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Corpus Christi Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Barbara J. De Peña prosecuted the case.
The sentencing marks a significant victory in the fight against narcotics trafficking in the Corpus Christi area. The community can rest a little easier knowing that Cobb will be held accountable for his actions.
