A former ConAgra Foods executive has been sentenced to prison after bilking the company out of nearly $605,000 through a complex scheme of fake vendor invoices and payments.
According to court records, Donald James Wilson, a 44-year-old man from Bothell, Washington, submitted at least 29 fake invoices to ConAgra Foods between 2007 and 2011. The invoices claimed that Wilson’s companies, GTL Enterprises, Inc. and All Out Athletics, had provided promotional trips, activities, and materials to ConAgra’s customers. However, in reality, the invoices were entirely fabricated and Wilson used the money for personal expenses.
Wilson, who served as a Division Vice President of Sales and Marketing for ConAgra Foods, was sentenced to 41 months in prison on February 2, 2015. After his release, he will serve an additional three years of supervised release. Wilson was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $605,592.53.
Wilson’s scheme was uncovered after a thorough investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The agency worked tirelessly to expose the complex web of deceit and false invoices that Wilson used to swindle ConAgra Foods.
