Donald Renard Taylor, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2023

A Charleston, West Virginia, man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution operation, federal authorities announced.

Donald Renard Taylor, 50, of Dunbar, was sentenced to nine years in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for distribution of a quantity of methamphetamine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Taylor sold 104.63 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $850. He admitted to the transaction and further admitted to selling 27.71 grams of methamphetamine for $240 on June 14, 2023, and 55.75 grams of methamphetamine for $440 on July 13, 3023, to the confidential informant.

All three transactions occurred in Dunbar, with the most recent sale taking place on July 31, 2023. As a result of a thorough investigation, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Taylor’s Dunbar residence on August 2, 2023.

The search warrant led to the seizure of 139.7 grams of methamphetamine, over 200 grams of fentanyl, 544.8 grams of cocaine, and $19,479. Officers also seized six firearms from the residence.

The investigation was led by the Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Network Team (MDENT), which is composed of the Charleston Police Department, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Nitro Police Department, the St. Albans Police Department and the South Charleston Police Department.

United States Attorney Moore Capito made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the MDENT team, as well as the assistance provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Senior United States District Judge David A. Faber imposed the sentence, with Assistant United States Attorney JC MacCallum prosecuting the case.
