Dozier Sentenced to Federal Prison for Felon in Possession of Firearm

Convicted felon Jared Trent Dozier, 44, of Colorado, was handed a 37-month federal prison sentence for being in possession of a firearm while committing a felony. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Wyoming reported that Dozier was arrested by the Wyoming Highway Patrol on October 7, 2023, following a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, law enforcement utilized stop sticks to bring Dozier’s vehicle to a halt. A search revealed narcotics, stolen mail, and a loaded Walther PK380 handgun in plain view. Dozier pleaded guilty to the charges on February 20, 2024, with Senior U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson imposing the sentence on May 13. The investigation was led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

Meanwhile, Amanda Christine Gray, 35, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, faces a 120-month federal prison term for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and carrying a firearm in relation to drug trafficking. The Cheyenne Police Department responded to reports of Gray slumped over in her vehicle on August 3, 2023. An examination of the scene turned up a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson pistol, 183 fentanyl pills, and $1,300 in cash. Gray admitted to using fentanyl and pleaded guilty on February 20, with Senior U.S. District Judge Nancy D. Freudenthal imposing her sentence on May 13.
