Piercing evidence has emerged in a shocking case of brutality against a federal officer.
A 37-year-old Mission man has been found guilty of Assaulting, Resisting, and Impeding a Federal Officer.
The crime took place on December 29, 2022, at the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Adult Correctional Facility in Todd County, South Dakota.
According to officials, Duane Rouillard, III, punched a corrections officer multiple times in the head and face with a closed fist.
Rouillard was subsequently indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2023 and pleaded guilty on February 19, 2026.
On April 21, 2026, U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte sentenced Rouillard to time served through April 22, 2026, which is approximately three years and one month in custody.
Additionally, Rouillard was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund and will serve three years of supervised release.
Rouillard was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuted the case.
This case was investigated by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.
