Dudzinski Poole, Drug Trafficking, Florida 2023

OCALA, FL – A six-year federal investigation has cracked a sprawling drug trafficking and money laundering operation stretching from Florida to California, Texas, and even China. Authorities announced today the indictment of seventeen individuals, all allegedly involved in funneling thousands of kilograms of methamphetamine and fentanyl across state lines. The bust represents a significant blow to a network that exploited commercial airlines, trains, and the postal service to distribute poison for profit.

At the center of the conspiracy is Dudzinski Edwinn Poole, a/k/a “Zink,” 48, of Apopka, Florida, identified as the leader of the Drug Trafficking Organization (DTO). Poole and Melvin Tyrone Patterson, Jr., a/k/a “Goon,” 31, of Wildwood, FL, face the most serious charges – two counts each of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, alongside charges of drug trafficking conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy. If convicted, both men face a mandatory minimum of 10 years, potentially escalating to a life sentence.

The investigation, a joint effort by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), revealed a sophisticated operation. Authorities have seized over 250 pounds of drugs, primarily methamphetamine and fentanyl, highlighting the scale of the DTO’s activities. The organization didn’t just deal in drugs; they actively laundered the illicit profits, obscuring the source of funds through complex financial maneuvers. The DEA has been tracking this group since at least 2017.

Beyond Poole and Patterson, a dozen others are implicated in the conspiracy, each charged with drug trafficking and money laundering conspiracy, and facing a potential minimum of 10 years behind bars. These include Andrew Woodruff, Jr. a/k/a “Smurf,” 38, of Mount Dora, FL; Jose Ivan Carbajal a/k/a “Primo,” 33, of California; Diego Navarro- Martinez a/k/a “Shooter,” 32, of California; Michael Andre Chester a/k/a “Dre,” 48, of Apopka, FL; Samantha Tiesha King a/k/a “Mamp,” 32, of Altamonte Springs, FL; Felisha Denise Williams a/k/a “Lil Momma,” 34, of Apopka, FL; Rodrieka Lashay Manning a/k/a “Drieka,” 25, of Apopka, FL; Janice Denise Anderson a/k/a “Butter,” 65, of Mount Dora, FL; and Oveda Denise Miller a/k/a “Gangsta Granny,” 60, of Mount Dora, FL. The full list of defendants and their charges is available in the official Department of Justice release.

The scope of the operation is staggering, with the DTO allegedly utilizing a network of suppliers, distributors, couriers, and coordinators to move drugs across the country. While the investigation is ongoing, authorities believe the dismantling of this organization will significantly disrupt the flow of illicit narcotics into the eastern United States. U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg of the Middle District of Florida promised a continued crackdown on drug trafficking and money laundering schemes.

The case underscores the relentless efforts of federal agencies to combat the escalating opioid crisis and the associated financial crimes that fuel it. While the DEA secured the physical drugs, the IRS-CI’s work in tracing the money trail was critical to building a comprehensive case against the entire network. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the proceedings as they unfold. The full defendant chart released by the DOJ is included for reference.
