Defendant Sentenced to 140 Months for Methamphetamine Conspiracy
A 36-year-old Omaha man has been sentenced to 140 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine drug ring.
Dustin Charles Vogel was sentenced by United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska, for his participation in the conspiracy.
On October 6, 2021, law enforcement located Vogel and two co-defendants, Haley Coffman and Jonathan Miller, at an Omaha area motel after responding to a tip about Coffman’s whereabouts.
When approached by law enforcement, the driver of the vehicle, Miller, attempted to flee by putting the car in reverse and backing up toward the officers. An officer was seated in the vehicle when it was hit, and Miller then drove his vehicle from the area at a high rate of speed before crashing in a construction area.
During an inventory search of the vehicle, a large amount of suspected methamphetamine was found in a bag on the floorboard. The bag was accessible to all three occupants, and a forensic laboratory later determined the substance to be 86.9% pure methamphetamine with an actual weight of 255.1 grams.
Vogel’s sentence includes a five-year term of supervised release after his release from prison. This case was investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Metro Fugitive Task Force, and Drug Enforcement Administration, and marks the final sentencing in the case.
Co-defendants Haley Coffman and Jonathan Miller were previously sentenced to 170 months and 205 months in prison, respectively, for their roles in the conspiracy.
