Dylan Tyler Neal Sentenced for Child Neglect in Muskogee, OK
A 23-year-old Ada resident has been sentenced for child neglect in Indian Country. Dylan Tyler Neal was handed a sentence of time served followed by five years of supervised release for willfully and maliciously failing to provide adequate and appropriate care, supervision, and medical care to an Indian child under eighteen years of age.
The charges against Neal arose from investigations by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Shawnee Police Department, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Neal also pleaded guilty to receiving a firearm and ammunition while under felony indictment. He received a sentence of time served followed by three years of supervised release for this offense.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma prosecuted these cases because the defendant is a member of a federally recognized Indian tribe and the crimes occurred in Indian Country, within the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation Reservation and the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The Honorable Jodi W. Dishman, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearings in Oklahoma City.
At sentencing, Special Assistant United States Attorney Genevieve Ozark represented the United States. The cases were the result of collaborative efforts between multiple law enforcement agencies, highlighting the importance of cooperation in bringing justice to victims of crime.
