An Oregon man has been sentenced to 8 years in federal prison for his role in a fentanyl overdose that claimed the life of a Yamhill County teen.
Dylan Wilson, 26, of Lafayette, Oregon, was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison and three years’ supervised release.
The indictment charged Wilson with conspiring with Scott Keeling, 23, of McMinnville, Oregon, and others to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and possessing with intent to distribute fentanyl.
On July 21, 2021, Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the fatal overdose of a 15-year-old in Dayton, Oregon. A search of the victim’s cell phone and an interview with one of the victim’s minor friends revealed that the victim had recently purchased what they thought were Oxycodone pills from Wilson.
The pills, labeled with “M30,” contained fentanyl, which was confirmed by a toxicology report. Wilson’s cell phone revealed evidence of his fentanyl supplier, Scott Keeling, who was arrested the same day.
On December 7, 2021, a federal grand jury in Portland returned a three-count indictment charging Wilson and Keeling with the above-mentioned charges. Keeling pleaded guilty to the same charge on February 21, 2023, and was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison and three years’ supervised release on May 30, 2023.
This case was investigated by the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, and was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
