SAN FRANCISCO – The streets of the East Bay just got a little less saturated with poison. Thirteen individuals are facing federal narcotics trafficking charges following a coordinated takedown by the Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Five suspects were arrested April 30, 2019, and thirteen locations – including homes in Contra Costa, Humboldt, Fairfield, Suisun City and Modesto – were raided, yielding evidence of a widespread drug distribution network.
The indictment alleges a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a cocktail of deadly substances: methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and crack cocaine. The feds aren’t playing around; these aren’t nickel-and-dime possession busts. We’re talking about serious players allegedly flooding the streets with hard drugs.
Leading the list of the accused is LORENZO LEE, a/k/a “O.G.”, 66, of Antioch, California. Lee is charged with conspiracy to distribute (Count 1) and multiple counts (4, 7, 13-15) of distribution and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. If convicted, Lee faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, along with at least 5 years of supervised release and a staggering $10 million fine. This old-timer isn’t going quietly.
Alongside Lee, JEFFREY MCCOY, 46, of Pittsburg, faces the same conspiracy charge (Count 1) with a potential sentence of 5 to 40 years and a $5 million fine. He’s also hit with multiple distribution charges (Counts 2-7 and 9), escalating the stakes. ANTHONY BROWN, a/k/a “Ant Man”, 57, of Bay Point, and DESHAWNTE GAMBOA, 38, of Pittsburg, share similar charges and potential penalties. The indictment doesn’t mess around.
The net also caught DEBORAH POLK, 63, of Antioch. She’s accused of the conspiracy (Count 1) and possession with intent to distribute heroin (Count 15), plus maintaining a drug-involved premises (Count 16) – a charge that carries a 20-year maximum. This suggests Polk wasn’t just a user, but an active facilitator. The remaining defendants also face significant time if found guilty.
U.S. Attorney David L. Anderson and DEA Special Agent in Charge Chris D. Nielsen have promised a vigorous prosecution. This bust signals a renewed focus on dismantling these East Bay drug rings. The complete list of charges and potential penalties is a stark reminder of the consequences of dealing in death. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as it unfolds.
