Abingdon, VIRGINIA – Tony Michael Spencer, 42, from Raven, Virginia, was handed a 108-month sentence in the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia today. The former resident pled guilty to receiving depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possessing an illegal short-barreled shotgun.
In a gritty turn of events, Spencer’s residence in Abingdon was raided by the FBI on August 6, 2015. According to Assistant United States Attorney Zachary T. Lee, Spencer admitted viewing child pornography online during the raid, which led to the discovery of an unregistered sawed-off shotgun.
The investigation, led by the FBI, uncovered a trove of over 300,000 images of child pornography on Spencer’s seized computers. The court has also sentenced Spencer to 15 years of supervised release following his prison term.
Spencer was previously charged and admitted to being part of a group that distributed child pornography on an internet platform. His sentencing reflects the severe nature of the charges against him and the heinous crime he committed.
