A Greenbrier County man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a devastating oxycodone distribution scheme.

Edgar Crislip, 48, of Ronceverte, was handed a year and two months in prison by United States District Judge Irene C. Berger for his involvement in the illicit sale of oxycodone.

Crislip pleaded guilty to the charges, admitting to distributing oxycodone pills to a confidential informant on November 30, 2015, in Ronceverte.

Further investigation revealed that Crislip sold oxycodone pills on three other occasions, exacerbating the opioid crisis in the region.

The Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force conducted the investigation, with Assistant United States Attorney John File handling the prosecution.

This case was prosecuted under the Greenbrier Valley Heroin and Pill Initiative, an ongoing effort led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs and heroin.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, is committed to aggressively pursuing and shutting down illegal pill trafficking, eliminating open air drug markets, and curtailing the spread of pills and heroin in communities across the Southern District.

Edgar Crislip’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in illicit activities that plague our communities.
