Edgar Rene Garcia-Limon, Sexual Abuse and Firearms Offenses, Oklahoma 2022

A federal jury in Oklahoma has convicted a 34-year-old man of sexually abusing a young girl and possessing firearms, despite being a felon and an illegal alien.

Edgar Rene Garcia-Limon was found guilty of Aggravated Sexual Abuse in Indian Country, Abusive Sexual Contact in Indian Country, Felon in Possession of Firearm, and Illegal Reentry of Previously Removed Alien. The jury trial took place in Muscogee, Oklahoma, from May 17 to 18, 2022.

The evidence presented during the trial showed that Garcia-Limon sexually abused a female child from the age of four to 11. The United States also presented evidence that he is a felon and was in possession of two firearms. Additionally, it was revealed that Garcia-Limon, an alien from Mexico, had illegally re-entered the United States after being previously removed.

The investigation into Garcia-Limon’s crimes was a collaborative effort between the Tulsa Police Department, Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police, Homeland Security Investigations & Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Garcia-Limon was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending the imposition of sentencing. The Honorable Robert C. Brack, a United States District Judge, will preside over the sentencing hearing once a presentence report is completed.

Assistant United States Attorneys Benjamin D. Traster and Julie Mazur represented the United States in this case.

Garcia-Limon’s case is a stark reminder of the dangers of child abuse and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes. The conviction sends a strong message that the United States will not tolerate such behavior and will work tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.

The Eastern District of Oklahoma has prosecuted Garcia-Limon’s case because the victim is a member of a federally-recognized Indian tribe and the crimes occurred on the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation.

Garcia-Limon’s sentencing is scheduled to take place following the completion of a presentence report.
