Madison Man Sentenced for Gun Crimes

Edlando M. Watson, a 41-year-old man from Madison, Wisconsin, has been sentenced to 65 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of five firearms. According to court records, Watson transported the firearms from his home in Madison to a storage facility in Appleton, Wisconsin.

Watson is prohibited under state and federal law from ever possessing a firearm based on his 2012 federal conviction for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

At his sentencing hearing, Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach noted the serious nature of the offense, Watson’s poor prior record, and the need to protect the public. He further noted a strong need to deter Watson and other prohibited persons from possessing firearms.

This case was investigated by the Madison Police Department with the assistance of the Appleton Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel R. Humble.
