Edvin Delgado Escobar, a 27-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, has been sentenced to six months in prison for re-entering the United States after being deported twice. Delgado Escobar, also known as Edvin Delgado, Alexis Romero, Eddie Romero, and Edwin Delgado, was found to be illegally present in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, on May 23, 2018.
A United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab imposed the sentence on Delgado Escobar in federal court. The judge’s decision came after Delgado Escobar was convicted of Illegal re-entry after deportation. This conviction was the result of a successful prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Shaun E. Sweeney on behalf of the government.
Delgado Escobar’s history with deportation began in 2010, when he was formally removed from the United States by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement on December 30, 2010. He was removed again on November 7, 2012. Despite these deportations, Delgado Escobar found his way back into the country, where he was finally caught on May 23, 2018, in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
The United States Attorney commended the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement/Homeland Security Investigations for the investigation leading to Delgado Escobar’s conviction. The U.S. Attorney’s office stated that this case is a prime example of the government’s commitment to upholding immigration laws and holding individuals accountable for their actions.
