A 73-year-old Holyoke man has been charged with possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
Edward F. Dupont was charged in a criminal complaint with one count of possession of material involving the sexual exploitation of children, following a search of his residence on June 23, 2015.
During the search, federal agents seized a personal computer that contained over 16,000 images and 35 videos of child pornography, including four video files that depicted the rape of girls as young as five years old.
The computer also contained a 170-page manual entitled ‘How to practice child love’, which presents itself as an education and a step-by-step guide for adults to engage and practice sexual relationships with underage children.
Dupont faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, to be followed by a minimum of 5 years and a maximum lifetime term of supervised release, and a maximum fine of $250,000.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven H. Breslow of the U.S. Attorney’s Springfield Branch Office.
The case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
