Reentry Charge Lands El Salvador Man in Hot Water

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A West Virginia man with ties to El Salvador has been caught and indicted on a serious charge. Jose Angel Gabriel Palma-Erazo, 31, allegedly re-entered the country without consent, sparking a federal investigation.

According to Acting United States Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen, Palma-Erazo was indicted by a federal grand jury on a reentry of a removed alien charge. The indictment was handed down after Palma-Erazo was found in Berkeley County in June 2017 without consent.

Palma-Erazo’s case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara K. Omps-Botteicher on behalf of the government. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are leading the investigation.

An indictment is merely an accusation, and Palma-Erazo is presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, the severity of the charge suggests a serious offense.

The reentry of a removed alien charge is a federal offense that can carry severe penalties. As Palma-Erazo’s case moves forward, it remains to be seen how the court will rule. One thing is certain, however – the defendant is facing a tough road ahead.

The indictment serves as a reminder of the importance of immigration laws and the consequences of violating them. As the investigation unfolds, it will be interesting to see how Palma-Erazo’s case plays out in the court of law.

For now, the case remains ongoing, and the public will be watching with bated breath as the story unfolds.
