Lisandro Humberto Baires-Gomez, Illegal Reentry of a Removed Alien, California 2015

Lisandro Humberto Baires-Gomez, a 20-year-old El Salvador national, has been convicted of illegally reentering the United States.

According to U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite, Baires-Gomez was found in the country on November 17, 2014, after having been officially deported and removed on June 13, 2013.

Baires-Gomez accepted a guilty plea to a one-count indictment for illegal reentry of a removed alien on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.

U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey handed down a sentence of time served, along with one year of supervised release and a $100 special assessment.

Baires-Gomez will be turned over to U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.

Polite praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Border Patrol in investigating this matter.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Spiro G. Latsis was in charge of the prosecution.
