Eli Juan Moore Pleads Guilty to Heroin Trafficking Charges

NEW ORLEANS, LA – In a shocking turn of events, 25-year-old Eli Juan Moore from LaPlace, Louisiana, has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of heroin trafficking and gun possession.

According to court documents, Moore sold heroin to a confidential informant in January 2019 and possessed a 9mm semi-automatic pistol during a search of his residence in May 2019.

The Honorable District Court Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon will sentence Moore on October 7, 2021. Moore faces a maximum sentence of up to 20 years of imprisonment, a fine of up to $1,000,000.00, a period of supervised release not less than 3 years, and a mandatory assessment fee of $100.00 for counts one and five.

Additionally, Moore faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000.00, up to 3 years of supervised release, and a mandatory assessment fee of $100.00 for count seven.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Bayonle Osundare is prosecuting the matter.

Eli Juan Moore, a resident of LaPlace, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute a quantity of a mixture or substance containing heroin, distributing a quantity of a mixture or substance containing heroin, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The investigation revealed that Moore sold heroin to a confidential informant in January 2019 and possessed a 9mm semi-automatic pistol during a search of his residence in May 2019.

Moore’s guilty plea is a significant blow to his freedom, and he now faces a lengthy prison sentence and hefty fines.
