A 37-year-old man from Waimanalo, Hawaii, has been arrested and charged with producing child pornography.
Elias David, a local volleyball coach, allegedly began a sexual relationship with a minor female he coached in volleyball, according to court documents. The relationship started in approximately February 2023.
Investigations discovered videos on the minor victim’s phone depicting the two engaged in sexual conduct. David is seen holding or positioning the phone just prior to, or right after, the sexual conduct.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Honolulu Police Department, is investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael F. Albanese is prosecuting the case.
If convicted, David faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment and a maximum of 30 years’ imprisonment, along with potential fines and supervision after release from imprisonment.
The charge is merely an accusation, and David is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The case is ongoing, and any sentence would be imposed by a United States District Judge based on the statutory sentencing factors and the advisory United States Sentencing Guidelines.
