Convicted Sex Offender Arrested in Paducah
Dustin R. Stone, a 29-year-old resident of Greenville, Kentucky, was arrested on November 21, 2018, after traveling to Paducah with the intent of engaging in sex with a 13-year-old female, whom he believed he was communicating with.
However, Stone was communicating with undercover detectives from the Paducah Police Department. He sent explicit text messages and solicited the encounter through phone calls with an undercover female detective.
Stone was previously convicted in 2014 of Attempted Use of Electronic Means to Induce a Minor in a sex offense in Muhlenberg Circuit Court. As a result, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for 20 years.
A federal jury found Stone guilty of Attempted Enticement and Commission of a Felony Involving a Minor by a Person Required to Register as a Sex Offender.
The investigation and prosecution of child predators is a top priority for the U.S. Attorney’s office. The Paducah Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit conducted the investigation and worked closely with the U.S. Attorney’s office to ensure Stone’s successful prosecution.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 9, 2021. Stone faces a mandatory sentence of not less than 20 years imprisonment under federal law, with no possibility of parole in the federal system.
