Four Armed Robberies in Two Days Leave Victims Shaken

In a shocking string of crimes, two homeless men allegedly robbed four gas stations and a convenience store in the Pittsburgh area over the course of two days in August 2020.

The victims of the robberies reported that the suspects, Elijah Sayon and Rexford Wright, both 23 years old, entered the stores with guns drawn and demanded cash from the clerks.

The first robbery occurred on August 3, 2020, at a Sunoco gas station on Donner Avenue in Monessen, PA. The suspects then allegedly robbed a Marathon gas station on State Route 51 North in North Belle Vernon, PA.

The next day, August 4, 2020, Sayon and Wright allegedly robbed a GetGo on Steubenville Pike in Kennedy Township, PA, and a 7-Eleven on Dry Run Road in Monongahela, PA. All four robberies were committed at gunpoint.

Sayon and Wright, both residents of Pittsburgh, have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of robbery. If convicted, they face a maximum total sentence of not more than 80 years in prison and a fine of not more than $1,000,000.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski, and the investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Allegheny County Police Department, Monessen Police Department, and the Monongahela City Police Department.

An indictment is an accusation, and Sayon and Wright are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The community is left shaken by these brazen crimes, and authorities are working tirelessly to ensure that justice is served.

Sayon and Wright’s next court appearance has not been scheduled.
