Elijah Williams, Racketeering, New Jersey 2024

A member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for his role in a racketeering conspiracy. Elijah Williams, 24, pleaded guilty to a superseding indictment that charged him with Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy.

According to documents filed in this case, from 2015 through September 22, 2022, Williams was a member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, a criminal enterprise responsible for acts of violence and the distribution of controlled substances in the District of New Jersey and elsewhere.

On September 25, 2018, in Newark, Williams attempted to murder rival gang members and associates by shooting at four individuals, one of whom was paralyzed. On March 20, 2019, in Irvington, Williams fatally shot another person, in retaliation for the murder of a member and associate of the Rollin’ 60s.

U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced that Williams was sentenced to 336 months in prison for his role in the racketeering conspiracy. In addition to the prison term, Judge Susan D. Wigenton sentenced Williams to five years of supervised release.

Sellinger praised the hard work of law enforcement partners in the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, stating that the sentence handed down today ensures that Williams will spend decades behind bars, away from the streets he terrorized.

Special Agent in Charge Cheryl Ortiz of the DEA New Jersey Field Division also commented on the sentencing, stating that drug trafficking can be a dangerous and violent game, often entangled with deadly consequences. Ortiz noted that the commitment of the DEA and law enforcement partners has made sure those responsible for violent crimes face the consequences for their actions.

Williams’ sentence brings an end to a lengthy investigation and prosecution of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang. The case serves as a reminder of the seriousness of racketeering and violent crimes, and the commitment of law enforcement to hold offenders accountable.
