Elvis Barban Chavez, Credit Card Fraud, New Hampshire 2024

GRIMY TIMES EXCLUSIVE: In a stunning turn of events, Elvis Barban Chavez and Dairon Julio Jimenez Roja have pleaded guilty to identity theft and conspiracy to commit credit card fraud in New Hampshire.

The duo, both hailing from Texas, along with Francisco Tamayo Noguera, traveled to New Hampshire late last year. They targeted local stores, including the Sam’s Club in Hudson, where they used a skimming device to steal credit card information from unsuspecting victims.

According to court documents and statements made during plea hearings, Chavez and Roja downloaded sensitive data from a gas pump at a store in Londonderry, using it to buy $200 gift cards. The total estimated loss from their heist exceeds $15,000.

The group’s brazen operation was thwarted on January 12, when the Hudson Police Department responded to reports of suspicious activity and pursued them into Massachusetts, where they were arrested by Tyngsborough Police. A trove of cards and a skimming device were seized from their vehicle.

Both defendants face a sentencing hearing in May with plea agreements that could see them spend 24 months behind bars. The investigation was a collaborative effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies and store staff.

The public is reminded that Francisco Tamayo Noguera, who remains to be tried in February, is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
