Alien Sentenced for Illegal Re-entry in Hogansberg
Elyn Francisco Figuereo-Minyette, a 27-year-old citizen of Spain, was sentenced to 45 days of ‘time served’ for illegally re-entering the United States following his removal, a felony under federal law.
On November 2014, Elyn Francisco Figuereo-Minyette pled guilty to the crime, and on May 22, 2014, he was arrested by Border Patrol Agents on New York State Route 37 in Fort Covington, New York. He had illegally crossed the border at a remote location on the St. Regis Akwesasne reservation and was picked up by a waiting car shortly before he was stopped and arrested by Border Patrol.
Figuereo-Minyette had been previously removed to Spain on June 9, 2014. His sentence was handed down by United States District Court Judge Glenn T. Suddaby.
Following today’s sentencing, Figuereo-Minyette was remanded to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security for removal proceedings. The case was investigated by the United States Border Patrol, Massena, NY and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Edward P. Grogan.
